School Groups
We regularly host school groups from our community to better understand the benefits of tourism and the positive impact this can have on their futures. The more tourists and visitors the more jobs and the more pride we will have in our country.
The main principle we try to communicate is Eco-Tourism. This being “the responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the wellbeing of local people.”
Grade 2 learners enjoyed a “Survivor Challenge” Theme with us. The learners were split into groups and the first 2 groups were taken on a guided game drive. Along the route they learned about the type of game, their habitat and the type of grasses and bushes in the reserve.
The groups then needed to complete a study page asking questions on their learning. The other 2 groups stayed behind in the Lapa and enjoyed games like making fire with flint, transporting water in different size containers over an obstacle course and eating strange looking food off a plate without using their hands.
SPCA Junior Club
The Winelands SPCA has a junior club, because the future of the SPCA lies with children.Having recently hosted the children from the junior club on a guided game drive was a great educational outing, where many of the children have never seen live antelope etc.
