About Us

Jackie: My path is a long and windey road…  I ‘landed’ in Robertson in 2002 after falling in love with André – and moving here from big city life. With my Corporate background of the Oil Industry - spanning Johannesburg, London and Cape Town - it was a shock to the system to adjust to small town life. First stop was the Robertson Tourism Office, the reason?  Farm life was very quiet…  I needed to meet people… and my marketing and PR background wanted to see how things are done in a small town.  I have been involved with Tourism of the Robertson Wine Valley ever since.

Jackie About Us Current Job Descriptions : Self Employed as a Marketing Consultant / Project Manager / Website and Printed Media / Massage Therapist / Labour relations & Farm Administration

André : moved to Robertson from Cape Town around 1998 and set up his own Taxidermy Studio.  His creativity feeds his passion, and he loves making interesting and funky crafts, many of which can be seen in the gardens at Assegai House & at the TiPi’s.    Current Job Descriptions: Qualified Taxidermist, Artist, Candle Maker, Keen Archer, Wood Worker, Archery Target Creator, Manufacturer, Marketer and Distributor.

And More recently …. builder of unique & interesting spaces particulary in the natural form of building.

ASSEGAI REST FARM

Together they bought Assegai Rest Farm at the end of 2012 and decided to start a farm holiday accommodation business.  Assegai House on the farm was perfect for that, but needed renovating and changes to make it a comfortable, self-catering Pet Friendly Accommodation.

We only had funds left to build something ‘small’ for ourselves to live in, and as we needed to get it built quickly we decided on building our cottage on stilts with Nutec Boards and with internal wood cladding.  The building plans, concepts and ideas planted a seed with Andre that was set to germinate into something even more fun & exciting ….

Building started on the Paws TiPi camp in mid-2014 and we hosted the first guests in December 2014.  Magic TiPi camp opened in March 2015.  We are very pleased about the response to the TiPi Creation and really love sharing our spaces with like-minded people.
We are excited about our next projects… Watch this Space…

We also do love travelling and exploring different places in South Africa.  We love meeting new people and sharing good times with friends and family.  Our place is Pet Friendly because we love travelling with our Fur Kids : 2 Black Labradors – Bella (baby at heart) and Durango (the gentle soul) and Kitties - Tensing (climber) and Djembe (drum spirit).

Budget Getaways - Top Rated Getaway

We had an absolute ball at the TiPi Lodge. A huge thank you to Andre and Jackie for their hospitality. What a wonderful surprise to find everything so functional, neat and clean. The setting is just amazing and we definitely relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. A very special time for our family to come together and just 'be' in the most natural, peaceful and beautiful setting. We will definitely be visiting Lancewood TiPi Lodge again in the very near future. A truly wonderful holiday, to say the least. Belinda du Preez - January 2018
